Googe docs doesn’t seem to be a good platform for posting the tournament results, so we’ll post them manually. Sorry about the confusion.

Sonoma-Cutrer Event Scheduled For May 3
Club members should be aware that the annual “Derby Day” will be held on May 3 at the winery. The event begins at 11:00 AM. Usually, the courts are open during the event. If the courts will be closed there will be an announcement. If club members are interested in attending the event, the tickets cost $135 per person. The event will include top chefs in a competitive cook-off, a four-course luncheon, Russian River Wines, live Kentucky Derby broadcast, and a charity auction. The event benefits the Council on Aging. I am advised that the event sells out early. Call 525-01434 x146 for tickets.
On-Court Cannons Appear In USCA Internationals
Due to a recent change in association rules, on-court cannons are now allowed.
On the first day of play in the USCA Internationals, Jerry Stark sent the
following notice to the Nottingham board:
“Today [Monday] is the first day of the USCA
Association Croquet National Championships…at the
National Croquet Center….The first and second in-
court cannons that I have heard of were played today.
Doug Grimsley had the first one; when trying to finish
up a diagonal spread the RB stopped in contact with a
third ball. So not a big cannon to play, but he had a
cannon.
“The second one was played by Ben Rothman. He was
working on a TP when he rushed oppo which stopped in
contact with his partner ball. The cannon was played
from about one yard in front of 4b. Ben attempted to
use the cannon to peel partner, which ended in the jaws
of 4b. He continued on with his break but broke down
before completing the TP.
“Both players were a bit surprised when the cannon
arose.”
